Beach Clean Up

Come enjoy Jamaica Bay’s natural beauty and improve its landscape by participating in Pratt’s annual beach cleanup day hosted by Programs for Sustainable Planning & Development (PSPD).

The cleanup day starts out this year’s Blue Week, and is part of Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup day. Join the global effort to make a giant collective impact!

Directions: take the towards Far Rockaway, get off at Beach 60 St; walk half mile to De Costa & 65th. Rain boots, bug spray, and protective layers from mosquitos recommended!

Make sure to join us after for food and drinks at Rockaway Beach Surf Club at 302 Beach 87th St.

Hudson river views hike

As a part of Blue Week at Pratt Institute, we are organising a hike to the beautiful Hudson Valley.

Come enjoy the views of the Hudson, and make friendships that will last a lifetime with the Pratt cohort.

Details :A two hour easy to moderate hike, ranging to a length of 3.5 miles with beautiful views of the Hudson.

Meet us on the 1st of October by the Pratt Cannon (200 Willoughby Avenue) at 8:45 a.m. to be a part of the Hike to catch the bus, or you could meet us at the Manitou Point Preserve by 11:15 a.m.

Bring a packed lunch and plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated through the 2 hour hike and a warm jacket. This hike is great for first timers.

A Documentary feature on the legendary Oceanographer, Marine Biologist, and Environmentalist Sylvia Earle.

There will be a panel discussion with the filmmaker Fisher Stevens, (producer of the Academy Award winning documentary, The Cove)

Glow in the Dark- Lecture

Blue Week 2016 from Pratt Institute presents a Lecture.

the daffodil project

The Daffodil Project was founded in 2001 as a living memorial to September 11. With nearly SIX MILLION free bulbs planted citywide by more than 100,000 young students, parks and gardening groups, civic organizations, corporate volunteers and other New Yorkers, it is one of the largest volunteer efforts in the city’s history.

Pratt Institute shall be participating this year for the 4th year in a row.
